Maintenance...
...the best way to care for your stone
Marble, Travertine & Limestone Quartz Resin Tiles
Granite:
Granite is the hardest wearing material supplied and the maintenance is minimal. A wipe down with a warm soapy water and cloth then buff up with a dry soft cloth is all that is required for daily maintenance to keep your worktops looking like new.
Lowe's Marble and Granite can supply you with sealers, cleaners and polishes for regular care of your granite and for when you want to give the surface an extra special sheen.

As with all natural stone materials spills should be cleaned and wiped immediately to avoid possible staining.
There are a couple of things to avoid with your granite worktop:

Marble, Limestone, Travertine:
These are more porous material than granite and you need to be aware of the problem of staining. It is essential that a sealer is used on the stone although helping to prevent staining it will not protect against acid attack.
Many modern household cleaners contain acid as an ingredient and these will attack soft stones such as marbles, limestone's and travertine's. Even soaps and detergents contain acid and should not be used around these materials.
Always check the labels of any products used to make sure that they are safe for use on the stone, and not going to cause any damage or staining to the stones surface.
General cleaning - for marble, limestone and travertine use a 'soap less' slightly alkaline cleaner, water and a cloth, then dry the area off with a soft cloth.
NEVER use abrasive liquids, powders or scouring pads, as these will damage the stone.
Please be aware that the following will mark and stain marble, limestone and travertine and that this is not a compete list of all products:

For maintaining quartz resin clean with a pH neutral product, rinse the area with water and then dry with a soft cloth.
If any stains do appear on your quartz resin surfaces, as with all spills wipe up as soon as it is seen but if it is too late and the surface is marked, first wipe the area with a pH neutral product, rinse and dry. This should remove the majority of marks on the surface, if not try a 'Cif' type cream can be used on more stubborn stains if needed. If this has not removed the mark on the quartz resin, please contact us for further information or have a look on the links page for manufactures recommendations.

The listings above for granite, marble, limestone and travertine are applicable for the care of the natural stone tiles.
Floor tiles are generally supplied honed or textured, a polished finish is a slip hazard and will also eventually ware away with foot traffic especially in a softer stone such as marble or limestone.
Engineered tiles are a harder alternative to natural materials and are therefore less are prone to staining and marking along with easier maintenance.
Maintenance for these materials is to sweep, vacuum or dust the floors or walls to remove any loose particles and if further cleaning is required then the area can washed down either by hand or using a mop with a solution of warm water and a mild detergent.
Specialist sealers are available for these products please contact us for further details.
