Hopton Wood Limestone has been quarried locally since the Roman period. It's a hard limestone and will take a good polish and is well suited for a wide range of application from flooring to cladding. Sculptors and letter cutters have long appreciated Hopton Wood, including Henry Moore, Eric Gill, Brian Epstein etc. This famous stone has been used on many of the countries most prestigious public and private buildings. |

Derbyshire Fossil is also quarried locally. It is extremely hard and will accept a good polish. The inclusion of many fossils makes it a unique material and it's appreciated by designers and architects alike. Used for prestigious projects such as the new extension to the Royal Opera House and the display case for the Mappa Mundi in Hereford Cathedral. |

Golconda, again quarried locally is a dolomite with an open texture and ranges in colour from mid to light brown. Used for flooring, paving, quoins and mullions etc. |
