Marble & Limestone

Limestone is a sedimentary rock which contains more than 50% calcium carbonate. Marble is classed as metamorphic rock, formed when limestone has been exposed to high temperatures and pressures within the earth’s crust.

Limestone and marble are both stones we would not recommend for a kitchen enviroment. The structural nature of the stone means that they are both very soft and also pourous. Thus meaning they will scratch and stain very easily – this is where quartz comes into its own as it looks like the natural stones but with the added durability.
